One night to do an online edit…..
Challenge is accepted
Does anyone else have an awful hatred for the time taken to transcode?
As a FCP7 editor I have been putting off trying the big X for a fair while. So, I’ve just been blessed with 20 minutes of spare time, so what better to do than have a play, right?
I use multicam editing a huge amount, so I thought this was a brilliant starting point, as I have a speaker session to edit.
My first impressions, I’m afraid aren’t great. With FCP7, Avid’s Media Composer and Adobe’s Premier Pro, all you have to do is set some in-points and you’re ready. I have two clips and one audio track, so nothing intense. With FCPX you set your in-points (or can do it fully automatic) and then create a new multicam. So far I am stuck on the syncing dialogue, which means I haven’t even started to edit this hour and a half long talk. I am not impressed, it’s half three in the morning and I have to have this complete by Friday at 9am (I also have a tonne of other projects on the go and in the works).
I’m really hoping that after this, things do improve.
What are your opinions and experiences with FCPX?
What are you using now?
